Major Eric R. Raasch, United States Marine Corps, graduated from GCHS in the Class of 1995. He attended the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana and graduated in 2000 with a BA in Finance and Economics. After college, he moved to Washington, D.C. where he worked for the Speaker of the House as a Legislative Correspondent. In 2002, Eric joined the United States Marine Corps and attended Officer Candidate School until March 2002, at which time he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant. Following his commission he went on to flight school and was soon promoted to 1st Lieutenant and “Winged” as a Naval Aviator on April 30, 2004 and designated as an AH-1W Cobra Helicopter Pilot. In August 2010, he began piloting “Marine One” in support of the President of the United States. On April 1, 2013, he was promoted to the rank of Major, United States Marine Corps.
